Ultra Clean is primarily a two part system for rendering your hair clean to today's tests.  We also add a third stage is primarily to help control tangles and aid in manageability. 

First Stage is a special shampoo to clean and then open up the cuticle layer of the follicle.

The Second Stage removes as much of the metabolites as possible and then places a sealer around the "scales" of the cuticle to not only the shaft.  The sealant will remain on the hair follicle indefinitely so if the hair is retested later, you will still pass.

The sealer is designed not to be dissolved in the solvent in the hair drug test.  When the sample is placed in the centrifuge and spun, no metabolites are available to extract from the sample even though small qualities could be present on the cortex.  If there are no metabolites in the solvent, there is nothing to detect and you pass. 

The Third Stage is a conditioner to aid in control of tangles, add sheen and generally improve manageability.
